Today’s Improv: Topic from the audience “What wine and what food would you recommend as the season changes to Autumn and Winter?”

The recommendation

Naturally, I enjoy drinking wine. But when it comes to recommending a wine for someone else to enjoy, I am a bit out of my depth.

That being said, I have to fill the five minutes with something so I have to look for an escape route. The way to escape the recommendation trap is to go from big to small. So let’s talk about wine.

Wine is a drink meant to be enjoyed with friends. Made from grapes grown all over the world. There are so many wines on the planet today that there is no way that someone with my limited knowledge could recommend a single wine. Even if I could, I would not be helping you until I understood what flavors you enjoy and what kinds of wines fit your palette.

With that being said, I think that Autumn goes perfectly with Orange Wine.

No Orange Wine is not made from oranges. Orange wine is made from the same grapes as white wine. The grapes are crushed and fermented with the skin and seeds included. Later, the skin and the seeds are removed and the wine is aged. This is what gives it the orange color.

Orange wine has a depth of flavor that is more complex than most white wines, and different than red wine.

I recommend Wine Market Party https://www.partywine.com in Ebisu Garden Place to go sample Orange Wines.

As for food pairings…

I prefer to choose the food I want to share with you, and then match the appropriate beverage to that food. With so many wines available, it is possible to choose food based on your wine, but with so many varieties of wine available, I believe it is far more entertaining to match the wine to the flavors you are preparing in your food.

Rather than attempt to make a recommendation, I recommend that you find a wine expert who can share their depth of experience and give you a chance to try something new that will likely fit your mood and your meal.

Thank you for joining us today, and thank you for another excellent topic!

I had very orange colour (this is correct spelling for me) white wines before but it was before I learned this new wine drinker terminology and I cannot wait to find my very first “I am having orange wine” orange wine✨✨

Thank you for recommending it!

I also like to make a note Yasuji-san said he loves crabs, especially grilled crabs in the fall and he prefer to pair with Japanese sake.

Miki-san also commented that she is not so familiar with wines but loves Japanese sake🍶
